Keeping the past

Before I left NZ, I followed a number of groups/pages on Facebook and also signed up for a lot of newsletters as well. I used to get a lot of emails from NZ-based online stores, and it wasn’t until last year that I decided to unsubscribed for most of the them. The ones I’ve kept are ones that I know I’ll never get sick of getting updates of, mostly art. For example, Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust where once or twice, I had taken photos for their newsletter and Gallery 36 where I was actually featured and my photo placed on its front page for in its early years (Volume 1 No. 3 2009)

Eventually those other sites became a thing of the past I went from visiting them like mad every day, to only really thinking about it whenever a friend would post about some deal; which then seldom happens.

So I still keep up with these two. And whenever I read them, it’s as though someone has reached through my chest and grabbed a hold of my lungs, and I can’t breathe. Again, that ‘pang’ feeling of deep nostalgia. It chokes me.

Such little things. Just when I thought I was over it. Here it is again.
